Week 9
November 1-2, 2014
The top Northeastern squad traveled UVM for the Erwin Schell Trophy. Day one provided air temperature in the low 4, water temps in the low fifties, light rain and mixed frozen precipitation on top of 10-18 kts of breeze. Scott Goodrich and Taylor Williams sailed A-fleet with Jackson Hamilton and Jackie Berlin in B-fleet. On Sunday gust threatened 26 kts and Elise Gehling subbed in for Williams and Johnny Wehner for Berlin. Racing was tight and each fleet boats rounded bow to stern around nearly every mark. Northeastern landed 16th place overall.
In Boston, the freshmen competed in the Nickerson Trophy hosted by Tufts. The weekend was cold, wind, and wet, with Sunday reaching over 20 kts and with snow flurries. The Huskies placed 14th in A-divison. Sailing were Donal Ryan and Tara Kane with Kurran Singh and Abby Duclos taking over on Sunday. Maddie Whittier and John Hughes secured a 13th in B-fleet for a 14th place finish overall.
