Northeastern returned to Bowdoin this weekend for the Nicholas Barnett Trophy. Scott Goodrich and Sam Calvaresi sailed A-fleet and Jackson Hamilton and Jackie Berlin sailed B-fleet. Despite the raw weather and lack of wind, both boats very competitive and Northeastern finished Saturday in 3rd place. Sunday conditions were similar, but a break down hurt the A-division boat and the team slipped to three spots landing them in 6th place overall.
The keelboat team traveled to the Storm Trysail at the Larchmont Yacht Club. Northeastern was one of 52 keelboat college teams from Canada, France, and across the United States. Sailing the J105 were Luke Orchardo, John Hughes, Tara Kane, Evan Gregory, Donal Ryan, and Stephen Fletcher at the helm. Long Island Sound produced big wind conditions and the Huskies handled it quite well, catching 6th place in their class.
The Huskies also competed in the Southern Series 5 at Roger Williams and placed 9th overall. Matteo Alampi and Linnea Goldstein sailed in A-division, finishing 10th in light and shifty conditions. Tori McGruer and Liz Sczerzenie were in B-fleet, matching Brown for points and winning the tiebreaker for 8th place.
