Week 8
March 22-23, 2014
After a pair of strong regattas to start the season, Northeastern had a tough week at Bowdoin and Salve Regina.
At Bowdoin, Northeastern's top fleet racing pairs took to the water for team racing in the Staake Trophy. Skippers Maarten Eenkema van Dijk, Conor Lodge and Tori McGruer sailed with crews Margo Blagden, Estelle Beguin, Liz Sczerzenie and Estella Lofftus. A clear day on Saturday developed into snow and hail in the afternoon, creating some tough racing conditions. After 4 round robins and 20 races, Northeastern found themselves on the wrong end of a few close races, putting just four in the win column and finishing 5th of 6 in the regatta.
At Salve Regina, Northeastern sailed in the Southern Series 1. Conditions ranged from light air to heavy winds that caused a shortened day on Saturday. Camille Matille sailed A division with crews Emily Browning and Max Frye, and Peter Christensen skippered B division with Lindsay Martinez. The team sailed well, finishing on the tail end of a 16 point spread between 11th and 14th place.
