Northeastern sailed three regattas over the weekend, competing at MIT, Tufts and Mass Maritime.
At Tufts, Northeastern's top boats competed in the Mystic Lake Team Racing Invitational. Skippers Maarten Eenkema van Dijk, Conor Lodge and Tori McGruer sailed with crews Margo Blagden, Estelle Beguin and Liz Sczerzenie. It was a tight weekend of team racing, with two rounds of 9 races for the Huskies. NU was strong on Saturday, winning 7 of 9 races and losing only to the two Tufts home teams. On Sunday, Northeastern went 5-4, losing to both Tufts teams and adding losses to Brown and Bowdoin. After 18 races the Huskies finished 12-6, just a pair of wins out of second place.
At Mass Maritime, Northeastern competed in the Admiral Almyers Trophy. Camille Matile and Emily Browning skippered A division with Peter Christensen and Lindsay Martinez in B division. Matile and Christensen, who are both freshmen, continued to show a positive trend in their season, putting up competitive scores against a tight fleet. Both divisions posted a few top 3 finishes. A division finished 8th and B division finished 9th, bringing the young group to an 8th place finish of 18 teams.
At MIT, UNH hosted the New England Dinghy Tournament at MIT. Zach Shapiro skippered A division with Claire Lockard and Johnny Wehner and Will Manning skippered B division with Katie Alfond. Most races were completed on a windy Saturday. Both divisions finished 4th, giving Northeastern a 4th place finish out of 10 teams. Highlights included a bullet and multiple second place finishes in A division.
