Sailing in five regattas this weekend, the Huskies scored extremely well at the PC Invite and the Great Herring Pond Open, in addition to sailing at Yale, Dartmouth, and Tufts.
Sailing at the Captain Hurst Bowl at Darmouth, Jackson Hamilton, Jackie Berlin, Scott Goodrich, Taylor Williams, Johnny Wehner, and Katie Alfond sailed against tough competition in snowy and frigid conditions on Sunday, although temperatures reached the 60s in a warmer Saturday of racing.
Elise Gehling, Margo Blagden, Sarah de Silva, and Nathalie Garcia sailed at Navy Women's Interconference regatta this weekend in z420s. Shifty conditions lasted through both days, creating some frustrating races for everyone on water.
Kurran Singh, John Hughes, Peter Christensen, and Annie Wieland sailed at the Great Herring Pond Open hosted by Mass Maritime. A tough wind direction for the small lake, as well as some extremely skewed courses made for inconsistent finishes on Saturday. Luckily, Sunday proved to be windier and more steady due to the favorable wind direction, and the team put in some stronger performances. Entering the last set, the team was in 4th place before falling to a 6th place finish for a strong overall regatta.
Donal Ryan, Caitlin Cloonan, Evan Gregory, and Claire Lockard put in the best performance of the weekend. Congrats to Evan and Claire for winning B Division! The team finished in 4th place overall at the end of the weekend which consisted of steady breezes and perfect fall temperatures.
Sailing at one of the team's few team racing events of the season, the (mostly) freshman squad of Owen Beringer, Eleanor Grams, Carter Rose, Coleen Ross, James Maguire, and Rachel Guard sailed well at the Lane Trophy hosted by Tufts in their fleet of Larks. The team beat Roger Williams and Rhode Island before losing in a playoff race to make the final round.
