Week 3
September 26-27, 2015
It was a busy weekend for the Husky sailors, as they sailed well at all six of their events.
Sailing for the Hood Trophy hosted by Tufts, Scott Goodrich, Taylor Williams, Johnny Wehner, and Katie Alfond held their own at an extremely competitive event on Mystic Lake. Conditions were light, but also remarkably steady for the Mystic Lake venue.
At the Loder Tophy hosted at MIT by UNH, Tori McGruer, Laura Tschiegg, Jackson Hamilton, Jackie Berlin, and Rachel Guard put in a solid two days of racing. They went into Sunday only a few points behind several teams, and performed well enough in their one full set on Sunday to jump those teams for an impressive 4th place finish out of 18 teams. The finish also qualified the team for the Hurst Trophy later this fall.
The Women's Team sailed well at Regis, hosted by BU, with Elise Gehling, Margo Blagden, Sarah de Silva, and Nathalie Garcia competing in typically shifty Charles River condition. Similarly to the Loder, the team put up a strong couple of races on Sunday to solidify their final position at the event.
Carter Rose and Donal Ryan travelled to the Men's Singlehanded New England Championship, where they sailed Lasers.
Peter Christensen, Annie Wieland, Ian Campbell, and Coleen Ross sailed FJs at the Salt Pond Invite at the University of Rhode Island, with the group of three freshman sailors (Annie, Ian, and Coleen) all sailng well at their first high level regatta.
Stephen Fletcher and Luke Orchado represented the Husky sloop team at Courageous Sailing this weekend, sailng R19s at the Ross Trophy. Winning two races, including the first race of the regatta set a great tone for their entire event.
The women's team with Coach Farrar and Slocum sailing at BU this weekend.
