Weekend 10

November 9-10, 2013

The huskies had a strong presence at the Rhode Island States Regatta (Sister Esther Annual). Saturday racing started that morning with a Westerly breeze of 10-20 knots. Six races were sailed in each division, with B division's Conor Lodge and Estelle Beguin putting up several high place finishes, including a 1st and a 2nd. Sunday held more great racing, with six more races sailed in each division. A division's Maarten Eenkema van Dijk and Margo Blagden stepped up the competition, with nearly all top 5 finishes. The team finished in 7th place overall, with a 5th place in A fleet and 7th place in B.

At the Professor Noringer Regatta at BU, two of our members skippered for the first time that season. They sailed exceptionally well, with both divisions finishing in the top 8 for the entire day. Moussa Diolombi skippered A division, with Evan Greggory crewing, and Claire Lockard skippered B division, with Becker Awqatty as crew. A division finished in 5th place over all, and an impressive 1st place in B division brought the team to a 3rd place over all in the regatta.

At MIT's Crew Regatta, the team had a blast sailing in fireflies. talented crews Janelle Veary and Taylor Williams skippered for the day, with Elise Gehling and Tasha Greenwood crewing (respectively). It was a beautiful day on the Charles, with sunshine and light, shifty breeze. Veary and Gehling finished in 5th place over all, with Williams and Greenwood taking 1st! The huskies finished 2nd over all.
