For the last weekend of the season, the huskies competed in the New England Women's Championship/Reed Trophy at Tufts. Tori McGruer and Taylor Williams sailed in A division, while Elise Gehling and Kristen Kuzil sailed in B. On Saturday, racing was postponed for the morning while everyone waited for the wind to fill in. The first successful race was started at 1:25pm. A division managed to get in 6 races, and B sailed 4. It was a tough day of racing in the highly competitive fleet. On Sunday, the breeze was light and shifty for B's first set. The ladies sailed the entire day, completing a total of 2 sets in A and 3 sets in B. McGruer and Williams finished in 14th, and Gehling and Kuzil finished in 13th, bring the team to a 14th place finish over all.
The team also spent the weekend on the Charles, competing in the George Morris Trophy, hosted by BU. Becker Awqatty and Margo Blagden sailed in A division, and Jesse Thomas and Laura Tschiegg sailed in B. Saturday was beautiful weather, with light and shifty breeze. A division completed 4 sets, and B completed 3. Sunday was more of the same conditions, and after a two full days of racing both sets completed 7 sets. Awqatty and Blagden finished in 15th place, and Thomas and Tschiegg placed 9th, bringing the team to a 12th place finish over all. Highlights from the weekend include 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finishes for Thomas and Tschiegg.
The ladies at Women's NE Champs head in to rotate
