The Huskies started the Fall season off strong with five regattas around New England!

Northeastern sent eight sailors up to Maine Maritime for the weekend to compete in The Penobscot Bay Open and The Philip Harman Cup. Conditions were light on Saturday and stronger on Sunday. At the Pen Bay Open Maarten Eenkema van Dijk and Janelle Veary captured 3rd place in A-divison, and Conor Lodge and Estelle Beguin came in 6th place in division B.The team came in 6th place overall, and were only 12 points out of first in the dense fleet.

At the Philip Harman Cup the sloop team sailed in Colgate 26's. Scott Goodrich skippered with a crew of Colin Henderson, Luke Orchardo and Max Frye. The fleet was very tight and the strong current made for tricky conditions. An early DNF when the wind shut off set the team back early, but they sailed consistentlly in the middle of the fleet and finished 6th place overall, missing qualification for New England Sloop Championships by two spots.

At Roger Williams in Rhode Island, the Huskies competed in the Mt. Hope Bay Invitational. Jesse Thomas and Taylor Williams sailed A-division with Becker Awqatty  and Linnea Goldstein in B-division. Awqatty and Goldstein had a dominant performance, winning B-division by 11 points and leading Northeastern to a 2nd place finish overall.

In Boston, our women's team competed in the Toni Deutsch Trophy at MIT. On Saturday Heidi Hood and Margo Blagden sailed in A-division, and two new members of the team, Camille Matile and Claire Lockard, sailed B-division. 12 Races were held on Saturday in light, shifty breeze. On Sunday Elise Gehling and Kristen Kuzil sailed division A, and Tasha Greenwood sailed with new crew Emily Browning in divison B. Only 5 races were held in each division on Sunday with several abandoned starts and races. Overall the womens team came in 13th place.

Also in Boston was the Harvard Invitational, with Tori McGruerLiz Sczerzenie, Matteo Alampi and Laura Tscheigg sailing for Northeastern. The breeze ranged from WNW to SW with velocity between 2-8 knots. The Huskies sailed consistently and took 5th place overall.
