Week 4: March 23-24
The Huskies traveled to four regattas this weekend in Connecticut and Massachusetts.

Vietor Trophy @ Coast Guard Academy
Our team of sailors traveled down to CGA for a competitive weekend of racing, with the wind blowing hard on Saturday, leading to many DNFs and several breakdowns. Despite this, the huskies managed to get around the course nearly every race in decent position. On Sunday, with more manageable winds, the huskies had great finishes, including a bullet by Zachary Bresnick ('21) and Sarah Pierce ('21) in B division, while A division sailors Caleb Niles ('22), Rob Brower ('22), and Jules Mozzer ('21) finished 13th in A division.

Staake @ Connecticut College
Sailors Jackson Hamilton ('19), Jackie Berlin ('19), Santiago Hirschmann ('23), Ellie Regan ('19), Ted Bjerregaard ('23), Becker Ewing ('21), Annie Wieland ('19), and Sandra Nygren ('20) competed in the competitive Staake Team Race Regatta, which was qualifier for the regional team race regatta. The wind conditions were similar to those at the Vietor, with the race committee doing a great job keeping the races running despite the windy and shifty conditions. The huskies finished 5/6, but with a decent 9/11 record not far behind the teams in front of them, and with at least one win against every other team in attendance.

Central 2 @ MSM
On Saturday, the huskies sent a team to Mass Maritime to fleet race on Great Herring Pond, where the wind was not quite as heavy as other venues this weekend. The wind was extremely variable, often going from as little as 5 knots to gusts of up to nearly 20 knots, making it difficult to get races off. The huskies adapted well to the changing conditions to always maintain great speed compared to other boats. Will Crane ('21) and Peter Morrissette ('22) finished 4/13 in A division, while Ben Palmer ('22), and Elizabeth Lonergan ('22) finished second in B division, with an impressive two bullets in the final set of races. The huskies finished 2nd overall.

Duplin Women's Team Race @ Tufts
Saturday racing was cancelled at Tufts due to the high winds, but with the lighter wind on Sunday, the huskies managed to get in some competitive racing, with winds starting out westerly and eventually shifting to the southwest. A single round robin was completed as well as round robins for the top 4 and bottom 4 teams. The huskies won against Tufts in the first round. The sailors for this regatta were Carolyn Corbet ('21), Kelley Phippen ('22), Victoria Pajak ('21), Coleen Ross ('20), Morgan TerMaat ('23), and Bridget Maguire ('22).
