Week 4: April 8-9

Three regattas this weekend: A women's intersectional, an in-conference coed regatta, and a team race.

Alymers @ Mass Maritime

The Huskies win the Alymers! Always nice to see the burgee on Techscore.

With 20-40 degree shifts all day, conditions almost mimicked the Charles. Seasoned sailors Jackson Hamilton, Eleanor Grams, Peter Christensen, and Annie Wieland sailed fast and smart, accumulating just 73 points the whole weekend (compared to the next team, University of Vermont, who had 80). Both teams had no races outside of the top five, and Jackson and Eleanor accumulated eight bullets over 16 races- making 1/2 of their races first places! Nice job and congratulations!

Emily Wick @ Coast Guard Academy

Over on the Thames River, the Coast Guard Academy hosted the Emily Wick Regatta, an inter-conference regatta that is often used as a practice for the Reed Trophy (the Women's New England Championship). Sailors Tori McGruer, Coleen Ross, Carolyn Corbet and Julia Boll braved puffy and cold conditions in this challenging regatta. Mentally and physically grueling, the girls appreciated the practice in the windy conditions, improving tenfold by the end of the regatta- Tori and Coleen even got a bullet in one race! Congrats to Carolyn and Julia for competing in one of their first A level regattas; It never gets easier, you just get better! Nice job to all.

Mystic Lake Team Race @ Bowdoin (hosted by Tufts)

Our freshman team was back in action, with one substitute. Kyle Riggs, Romain Astié, Zach Bresnick, Becker Ewing, and new team members Greg Corsello and Marika Van Dusen drove to Bowdoin for this challenging regatta; Between large puffs and shifts on Saturday and lighter shifty winds on Sunday, our Huskies gave it their all and had fun!
